The Coastal Community Fund has helped Roborough village hall become the hub of the community once again.

The Coastal Community Fund aims to help projects in the local community and we love nothing better than seeing communities thrive! Last year we awarded the village of Roborough over £15,000 in two grants to help bring their village hall up to the standard needed by the local community.

The first grant we provided was used to purchase new tables and chairs so the local community could enjoy functions at the hall in comfort. The Hall was built in 1854 as the old school building and time has taken its toll on the hall so some crucial refurbishments were also needed.

Towards the end of last year, we provided further funds to help update the facilities. With the money, the hall is currently undergoing a complete refurbishment including: an entirely new stainless steel commercial kitchen to adhere to hygiene standards and to be able to cope with the increasing amounts of events held at the hall.  The hall will also soon benefit from a new water heater, hot cupboard, PVC covered walls, redecoration and new electrical fittings to ensure it is a place for the entire community to come together.

Ken Stimpson, Vice Chairman said of the fund:

The hall is at the heart of our community and being in such a rural area with no bus connections, the community relies on the hall to bring everyone together to socialise.  The upgraded facilities have attracted more and more events to be held at the hall including weddings and key fundraising events. These funds have helped return the hall to its former glory as the hub of village events. We are very grateful to Coastal and Grantscape for their invaluable help with our project.

The halls kitchen is still being updated but we will be sure to updated you when everything is completed!
