A unique off-shore recycling initiative supported by Exeter’s Coastal Recycling recently launched off the Salcombe coast. The boat belongs to an innovative off-shore recycling scheme and social enterprise, Till the Coast is Clear, which aims to reduce the impact of plastic waste on wildlife and the environment of the South West’s coastline.

The Till the Coast is Clear scheme will see environmental entrepreneur Gary Joliffe take to the water, travelling around the South West coastline collecting otherwise impossible to reach plastics and debris from creeks, caves and tiny beaches. Covering over 100 miles of coastline, Coastal Recycling are pleased to support this scheme by funding the boat.

Richard Marsh, Coastal Recycling said:

“For us, this is the start of something very important. The plastics and rubbish problem affecting our coasts have been well-documented. There are beach cleans happening up and down the country but this scheme reaches coves and parts of the coastline that otherwise would be unreachable. We share a vision with Till the Coast is Clear to reduce the amount of waste polluting the sea and are delighted to support their project and to ensure that all the waste collected is properly and efficiently recycled.”
