Site Manager, Kenbury Wood

Coastal Recycling is dedicated to recovering resources. With our head office in Exeter, we operate from five sites across Devon and are the South West’s leading provider of integrated recycling services. The company processes construction and demolition waste (skips), a MRF operation processing paper, plastics etc, an inert landfill site, aggregate processing and other waste operations.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a company which has recently become Employee Owned as a Site Manager. Kenbury wood is Coastal’s operating base and Inert landfill located just outside Exeter.

The site has gone through great expansion and investment as part of the group to become the primary waste processing site for construction and demolition wastes (C&D) and dry mixed recycling (DMR). It also serves as our primary operating base for the groups fleet of vehicle and as a Waste Transfer station.

The role

This role is instrumental in the effective delivery of all operational, compliance, health and safety, input and output activities;

  • To manage site operations and to understand the material processes and resourcing required
  • Ensure compliance of all operations in accordance with all permits, licences, insurance terms and conditions, Health & Safety regulations and other regulations applicable
  • Lead, develop and motivate the team across the site
  • Optimise existing processes through innovation and identify business opportunities in your area of control.
  • Take ownership of the financial performance of the respective P&L’s for all business operations in your area of responsibility, to achieve budget targets.

You

You will need to demonstrate experience of working in Transfer & Commercial/Trade Waste Operations at a management level.

  • COTC 4TSH Transfer Operations (Haz & Clinical).
  • Experience of leading, motivating and developing teams.
  • Experience of managing P&Ls and setting budgets.

Customer Services Advisor

This is not your run of the mill customer services role, you will be working in a small busy team, dealing with our customers at every stage of their relationship from the moment they join us; setting them up as new customers, arranging their deliveries and collections and responding to their queries, to solving difficult problems and building long term relationships. You will use your initiative to provide solutions and manage customer expectations, you will liaise with our transport and other departments to ensure the best possible customer experience. Combined with this you will assist with the general administration required.

About you

You will be outgoing, resilient and a great communicator. You need to have strong IT literacy and good problem-solving skills. You will be happy working as part of a team, helping out in tasks that might not with your specific responsibility.

Your Experience

  • Previous customer service experience or similar
  • Strong general IT ability (Excel, Word, Outlook) and the ability to learn to use the bespoke company software.
  • Waste management experience is desirable but not essential.

  • You will work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
  • This is a permanent opportunity, subject to a trial period of 6 months.

Customer Services Apprentice

The role offers real responsibilities from day one in a commercial environment, giving you the opportunity to learn all aspects of Customer Services. You will work alongside the Customer Services Team to ensure the smooth running of the administration function.

This apprenticeship is a great introduction to Customer Services and the Recycling Industry, enabling you in parallel to gain a Level 2 Qualification in Business Administration.

The role

This will be a generalist role, an example of some duties are:

  • Provide support to the Customer Service Team, Operations Team and Sales Team with regards to paperwork and queries.
  • Accurately and efficiently process bookings, invoices and payments using the appropriate Company systems and procedures.
  • Collate and input information onto database/spreadsheets as required.
  • Liaise with subcontractors to ensure all relevant documents are received and stored to ensure prompt payment and compliance.

You:

You will be required to work 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, there will be a split between working within the Customer Services function (80%) and having allocated time to complete your course (20%).

You will have GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4 (C) or above. You will have good communication and problem solving skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Along with a good level of IT skills including Outlook and Office, you will be able to manage your own workload and respond swiftly to tight deadlines.

LGV Drivers  – Exeter and North Devon

We are hiring Class 2 LGV drivers.

Come and join a business which has recently become employee owned!

This role is open to both experienced and newly qualified drivers.

  • Monday to Friday (with occasional Saturdays)
  • Standard 45 hour week with overtime available
  • Salary: £10.30 per hour (Overtime rate £15.45 per hour)

About you

Must be physically fit due to the nature of work. You must hold a valid CPC, Digicard and relevant licence categories (Cat C, LGV 2)

Transport Planner / Router

We’re looking for a Transport Planner / Router to join our Team.

The role is office-based in Kenbury Wood:

Providing a commercially focused collection service of domestic, recycling and trade waste, maximising all opportunities. This supervisory role has a significant influence on the day to day running of a busy transport office and the overall service levels provided to our customers. You will work in full compliance with all legislation regarding the activities and in particular the Goods Vehicle Operating Licence.

Main responsibilities of the role:

  • To assist in the running of a commercially focused transport operation, particularly close working relationship (pro-active) with Customer Services in order to deliver efficient service, minimise rolled jobs and maximise service delivery.
  • To assist, supervise, lead, develop and motivate the driver team.
  • To assist, supervise and co-ordinate the day-to-day allocation of drivers to vehicles and work requirements.  Continually monitoring and re-allocating drivers and work-loads as required, achieving maximum efficiency and providing the most effective services.

About you:

  • Experience of routing vehicles, motivating and developing teams.
  • Experience of working to deadlines and targets.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills

Our successful candidate will be enthusiastic and reliable with great interpersonal and communication skills, and they will have the ability to work effectively on their own as well as being a team player. Key requirements for this job include good organisational skills, good computer literacy in Microsoft Office packages, and a good eye for attention to detail, along with a commitment to excellent customer service. You will be commercially aware and tolerant of stressful situations, with an ability to adapt to change. Experience in the Waste/Recycling industry would be desirable but not essential.

Recycling Operative

We’re looking for a Recycling Operative to join our team.

The role is based at Kenbury Wood.

Receive and sort waste products for screening and/or transfer to landfill and treatment, in order to maximise value on sale. Work flexibly across the site in support of the efficient running of a commercial and customer focused facility.

About you

  • Sort and separate waste materials to maximise value on sale, and in accordance with Company procedures and relevant legislation.
  • Work flexibly across the site as directed by your Supervisor, ensuring the site is clean and tidy, operations are carried out with due regard to the health and safety of all employees and contractors who may be affected by the operation, and avoidance of damage to plant, equipment and property.
  • Operate plant and machinery and carry out daily inspection checks as required, complete defect and damage reports and other associated paperwork and follow the escalation process to workshops
